California Standards for Education Test...
Yup...For a prospective teacher it's all about the testing...which sucks...
Back in November just before my birthday I took one part of the three that I MUST have for a Multiple-subject credential. It was Math/Science. Breezed through the math, stumbled through the science...weee...fun stuff. In and out in about an hour and fifteen minutes.
In December I received my official results that I passed! SAWEET!
So originally I scheduled to do the English Literature, History, and Social Sciences by itself this coming Saturday (EEP TOMORROW!).
When I talked to my counselor I made mention that there was a possible position opening up next year at the school I want to teach at...and he put a bug in my ear about internship...
Internship means I would be teaching there on my own as an intern until I pass all of the rest of the wickets to qualify for my credential. I would be getting paid to get my student teaching done essentially. The catch is I would have to have my tests taken and my passing results back before middle of next semester. (figure about February or March) Unless that happens, I can't even bother to ask about becoming an intern...
So in my infinite wisdom I added a test to my schedule to take tomorrow along with the English...this one on PE, Health and development, and the arts.
I have to take both tests (mutliple choice probably ranging in the 30-50 question range - and essays for each section in the test (so figure six essays)) in FIVE HOURS! EGADS! What have I gotten myself into...
Not a history buff...was never good at interpreting literature...and a lot of the questions are more aimed at "if you see this indication in your student the best course of action would be..." AAAAAAAA
Took the pretests in the other sections and pretty much blazed right through it!
I do not want to fail a test...they cost $70 a piece and if you fail you pay again to retake it! Why can't it be like a DMV test? Pay one amount for up to three attempts?
Wish me luck everyone, I got to get up at OMG thirty in the morning to get to the place by 0715...
I'm drinking tomorrow - one way or another!

Thanks guys,
It went about like I expected it would. Flew through the Subtest three (less than an hour and a half) and spent the next two and a half wracking my brains to get the other portion done.
Think I did well on all of the Essay's (seven of them, *HEADDESK*), I'm just not sure that my subject matter expertise was up to par on the "How would you handle a child who did the following..." questions...or "Which line correctly correlates the action and timeline..." EGADS
There was a total of about 90 multi-choice, and of all the questions they were the harder ones on me...strange I know. I just hope my above par test taking and deductive ability came through for the win on this one.
There is just too much subject matter on that damn test in an area I am NOT comfortable with!
I'll update you guys when the email comes through with my results...Here's praying...I really don't want to do this again!

| OMFG...I Think I Passed!! |
 |

Please tell me I'm not dreaming here...that DOES say that I PASSED Subtest 1 and 3, right? I'm not imagining things here, right?
I'm a little leery, only because the email notification hasn't come through yet...so I'm not sure I trust this, even when it came from the official site!
AAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!
Okay perhaps I'm celebrating a bit early...but I SO HAPPY! One less worry on my mind if you know what I mean??

Got another test to go though...

I'm pretty sure a reading comprehension test will be right up your alley.

| Official results are back! |
 |
Okay holy cow I did a hell of a lot better on this test than I EVER expected to!
I got four pluses (the highest possible score - most of the questions answered correctly) on three out of five sections and a three pluses (many questions answered correctly) on the visual and performing arts.
On my essays I received check marks, which means that I met all of the requirements for the essays.
Overall Score FOUR PLUSES!
What a RELIEF!
I'm ecstatic!
I guess my brain melting out of my ears meant that I did well...SNICKER! On to the NEXT hurdle!!
